Tudor livery coat
This livery has a fitted body, elbow length sleeves, a square neckline (not
terribly visible as it was photographed on a black dummy), and a very,
very full skirt.

In fact, the skirt is triple pleated - that is, a pleat is folded, and then has
another pleat folded directly on top of it, and another directly on top of
that.

The livery pulls on over the head, and is fastened at the side of the body,
under the arm (see left).
Interestingly, this is the way that the uniforms of the Beefeaters, aka
Yeoman Warders, at the Tower of London, still fasten today.
