15th Century Livery Coat - Button Detail
Fifteenth Century Livery Coat
Late Medieval Yorkist Livery Coat
A fifteenth century livery coat in the colours of the House of York, azure and
murray, (blue and red), which was made for a private client in California.

The coat is made in a very heavy felted woollen fabric, and fully lined in linen.

This coat is worn pleated, (the pleats held in place by a belt).

The hand embroidered front badge is the white boar of Richard,  Duke of
Gloucester worn over the heart, and the appliquéd back badge, with hand
embroidered detail, is the white rose en soleil (rose in sunrays) of York.

As seen above, the coat fastens at the front, by means of three
pairs of buttons.

A detail of the pewter rose pattern buttons is shown left.

As can be seen from the detail to the other side (right), the coat
is hand finished, including the buttonholes.
