| Before you say it, no, I know that there's no such regiment in the British Army, and that there never was. But if you happen across a certain film, called 'Carry On... Up the Khyber', and pay close attention, you'll find that the Scottish regiment portrayed in the film goes by that name! I made the tunic only, and sadly, don't have a picture of it on its own. It is based on extant Victorian officer's tunics (of no particular regiment, but with details taken from several different ones). The tunic is made in scarlet wool by Abimelech Hainsworth. The facings are dark blue, and the tunic is trimmed with gold military lace - you can see this at the edges of the tunic, as well as in the Austrian knots at the points of the cuffs. The tunic has the classic cut away front of Highland uniforms. Made for a fancy dress party. A blog posting is here about it (in response to a forum post) : http://deborahlough.blogspot.com/2011/03/criticism.html |
